PETITION TO OUR ELECTED OFFICIALS
END THE CONNECTICUT PUNITIVE HOME TAX

WHEREAS, it’s patently unfair for municipal government to take hundreds – even thousands of my hard earned dollars when I sell my home or other property;

WHEREAS, this has been made possible by special interests who have repeatedly thwarted the expiration of a temporary hike in the real estate conveyance tax originally set to expire in 2004;

WHEREAS, this is double taxation since my property is already heavily taxed each year to support town services;

WHEREAS, in the current market many sellers are distressed, even suffering the indignity of paying this conveyance tax on a loss;

NOW, THEREFORE, I hereby petition you to do all in your power to honor the scheduled roll-back CT’s Home Tax of and to oppose the efforts of those seeking to cancel this long overdue relief.
